The Oncology Department of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital was established in 1999 and is one of the earliest oncology specialties among tertiary hospitals in Shenzhen. Together with the Radiation Therapy Department, it has built a oncology center that integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and training at Peking University Shenzhen Hospital.
The department consists of a general chemotherapy ward, a daytime chemotherapy ward, and a clinical trial ward. It currently has 108 beds and admits over 10000 hospitalized patients annually, with an annual outpatient volume of over 30000. We currently have a professional technical team of 60 people with rich clinical experience, professional excellence, and enthusiastic service to patients, including 3 chief physicians, 2 deputy chief physicians, 9 attending physicians, 6 resident physicians, and 40 clinical nursing staff; Among them, there are 7 doctors and 8 masters. The doctors in the department have many years of work experience and have a rotating foundation in clinical cardiology, respiratory, digestive, and neurology. They have rich experience in tumor treatment and are skilled in drug therapy for various malignant tumors. In order to promote the development of the discipline and attach importance to exchanges with domestic and foreign peers, we have cooperated with Peking University Cancer Hospital and renowned hospitals in Japan, and have been selected multiple times to study and exchange in Beijing and Japan. We regularly conduct academic exchanges, case discussions, and hire well-known domestic experts for ward rounds.
The oncology department has led or participated in many tumor MDT teams in the hospital, including colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, breast cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, oral cancer, nervous system tumors, urinary system tumors, gynecological tumors, and adverse reactions of immunotherapy, to strengthen cooperation between the hospital and outside, explore multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment models for tumor patients, organically combine the patient centered and multidisciplinary expert group based diagnosis and treatment models, and ensure that tumor patients receive the best and more standardized treatment. The department has carried out advanced technologies such as organoid drug sensitivity testing, circulating tumor cell CTC and NGS second-generation sequencing to guide precise tumor treatment, following the principles of comprehensive treatment, standardized treatment, and individualized treatment. Especially in early screening of colorectal cancer and multidisciplinary MDT comprehensive treatment, it has shown distinct technical characteristics and a good development trend.
The oncology team will lead with the goal of providing high-quality medical services, innovative scientific research, high-quality teaching and training, and efficient team management, and strive to build a regional oncology medical center in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area with first-class technology, quality, service, and management.
